Tawas City Police Celebrates Pride Month
Population: Under 6,000
The Tawas City Police Department is working to bridge the gap between the community and the police. We have taken great strides to be open and diverse with our community. Last year we held fundraisers for Autism Awareness and Breast Cancer Awareness to connect with our community. The fundraisers raised more than $3,000 for our local community.
This year, our focus is community inclusion, acceptance, along with accountability. In 2022, the Tawas City Police Department will officially honor and celebrate Pride Month for the month of June. The Chief of Police will wear a special edition PRIDE police uniform that was designed for the department, for the month of June. This display will show the community that the police force is a diverse agency that supports all the community members. This community inclusion is important so the members know they will be treated fairly by their police department. Diversity comes in many shapes, sizes, and colors. Our police department put the community first and we are here for each and every person!
