Community Excellence Awards Program is All New for 2015!

cea-300x200-shadowThe League is excited to announce that, based on member feedback, we have redesigned the Community Excellence Awards program to keep it fresh, relevant, and more inclusive for all our communities. The new process will take place primarily online – right here on our new CEA website!

In keeping with the League’s focus on placemaking, the categories for CEA entries will center on the four key areas of our Partnership for Place Agenda:

  1. Funding for the Future
  2. Michigan in Motion
  3. Place for Talent
  4. Strength in Structure

Projects can be submitted by member communities, or by community or civic groups with the support or endorsement of a member community. And that’s where the fun begins!

The new CEA website offers a greater variety of presentation formats for your project, so you can set your creativity free. Pique people’s interest with a snappy written description, then draw them in further with photos, a video and/or a PowerPoint. Next, spread the word to your whole community and encourage them to vote for your project online. Voting is very important because it counts for a full 25% of your score! Creativity, community impact, and replicability will also factor into your final tally.

Here’s how it will work:

  • March 2 – Begin submitting projects online
  • June 1 – Deadline for submissions
  • June 15 – Begin online voting
  • July 15 – End online voting
  • July 20 – Four finalists announced
  • Sept. 1 – Final presentations for Convention due
  • Finalists will participate in the rousing, creative Race for the Cup at Convention!

For more details, please explore the new CEA website.

We’re looking forward to seeing all your creative entries!
